Love & Comfort Projects
Goal: To make quilts to provide warmth and comfort for those in need locally. Specifically, our charity quilts go to local adult facilities that help those seeking safety and/or stable housing and to NICU units. The adult quilts can be of any size or fabric (prefer at least 40”X 60”), and the NICU quilts must be only cotton fabric with children’s prints (36” x 36”).
Recipient organizations for NICU quilts include:
Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital
St. Joseph’s Hospital
Ascension Hospital Ozaukee Campus
Recipient organizations for adult quilts include:
Open Door Café, Cathedral of St John, downtown Milwaukee
St. Barnabas food pantry and shelter
The Guest House
St Bakhita Catholic Worker House
Benedict Center

HOW TOS:
1. TOP: Make a quilt top either with your fabric or fabric bundle you pick up from a bin at the Guild Meetings. See below for suggestions, or just follow your own pattern.
a. ADULT quilts: any fabric (cotton, blend, flannel) and any size (lap, twin, or whatever size you want); batting can be a blanket or poly or blend or cotton.
b. NICU quilts: 36” by 36” only please, and only cotton, only children’s prints please.
2. QUILT: Bring the quilt top for someone else to sandwich and quilt and bind, or finish it yourself. Backings and battings are available for you to use in the bins on the entrance table at our Guild meetings….or you can provide the batting and backing.
NOTE: In May, our meeting is all day (9-3) dedicated to finishing quilt tops that have been made throughout the year. We made about 35 NICU quilts and 15 adult quilts last year on this one day alone. It is so much fun! See newsletter for more information!
3. FINISH and DELIVER: Put finished quilt on the table at the entrance to our meeting room, and we will deliver it to the charity. Your talent and love in making these quilts is incredibly important and so very appreciated.
Thank you for making the Love and Comfort quilts! They make a positive difference to the sick and needy in our community.
